Mississauga – Today at Credit Valley Hospital (CVH), Mississauga South MPP Charles Sousa announced that Ontario is expanding services at CVH and Trillium Health Centre to ensure that residents of Mississauga can get better access to the quality care they need, close to home.

The province is providing $19.5 million in additional operating funding to help the hospitals provide services in the space created through its recently-completed redevelopment project. The money will help the hospital provide more services, such as:

• Expanded cancer, and surgical at Credit Valley Hospital
• Expanded paediatric and obstetric services at Credit Valley hospital
• Ambulatory Care Clinic at Trillium Health Centre
• Urgent Care at Trillium Health Centre

 

The Mississauga hospitals are just two of 32 newly-redeveloped hospitals across the province expanding services.

Today’s announcement is part of the Ontario government’s Post Construction Operating Plan (PCOP) funding initiative, which supports the operations of new hospital facilities. It is annual funding that is added to the hospital’s base funding.

Investing in front line health care is part of the province’s Open Ontario Plan to provide more access to health care services and improve quality and accountability for patients.

QUICK FACTS

• The Ontario government has completed 63 major hospital redevelopment projects since October 2003.
• There are currently more than 32 projects in the hospital sector eligible for post construction operating funding at various stages of construction with 12 expected to be completed in 2010/11.
• Another nine hospital redevelopment projects are scheduled to begin in 2010/11.
• CVH has been allocated $15.4 million in new funding, Trillium Health Centre has been allocated $4.1 million.
