1D - Rehabilitation

Unit 1D is an acute rehabilitation unit and geriatric assessment unit.
Rehabilitation is offered to adults with neurological, medical, orthopedic, and cognitive disabilities.
Geriatric assessment is offered to the elderly person requiring assessment and multidisciplinary team involvement are required to enable the person to maximize functioning.
Both programs offer a coordinated program of assessment, treatment, and education by a multidisciplinary team of health professionals.

Services


Patients attend therapies according to their needs Monday to Friday and occasionally on weekends.  Therapy is provided by Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, Recreation Therapists, Social Work, Dieticians, and Speech and Language Therapists.
Therapies are schedules according to the needs of the patients.  The program may last for several days or several weeks depending on the needs of the patient.

Hours

The unit is staffed by registered nurses (RNs) 24 hours a day and 7 days a week. A coordinating nurse and a unit coordination clerk are at the nurse's desk from 7:00 a.m. to 7:30p.m. Monday to Friday, and Saturdays and Sundays from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Visiting Hours
Daily from 11:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.
These times can be flexible in special circumstances, upon discussion with the nurse manager or coordinating nurse.

Q: How do I know when my therapies will be?
A: Each day your therapists will schedule you for therapy.  The therapy list is printed each night and you may inquire at the nursing station for your personal list.
